Hue

Hue, in central Vietnam just below the former DMZ. This is looking out of the deck of our hotel room over the Perfume River and the citadel of the old capitol. The royal tombs of previous emperors are scattered around the countryside.

The interior of the tomb has incredible mosaics. Unfortunately you're not supposed to take pictures, this is the only sneaky one that came out.

The pleasure palace and tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, his wife and his adopted son. This is a huge complex, very pretty and quiet. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_Duc

Much of the temple grounds in the tomb were burned by the French when they left.

This stele records his deeds as an emperor.

This is his tomb, although he's probably not in it. His body was hidden somewhere in the complex to deter tomb robbers.
